Federation Cup Football

Sheikh Jamal Club from Dhanmandi will meet the Muktijoddha Sangsad in the 2015 Federation Cup Football final on Thursday in the Dhaka Bangabandhu National Stadium to decide which club will take the first biscuit of the new soccer season. The former are the favourites on paper although anything can happen in sports, as appearing in our experience from the hosts Brazil’s 1-7 drubbing by Germany in the 2014 World Cup Football semifinal in July.
Football was the most popular sport in our country until our magnificent 62 runs victory against pre-match favourites Pakistan in the 1999 World Cup Cricket in England. When there is contest between two or more sports as to which one is number one in a country during given time, success determines it. Man remembers result sheets, not the skills, (except in the case of Brazilian footballers. Crowd demands from them skills, foot and headwork and individual brilliance). From that point, cricket is the most popular sport in Bangladesh.
Back to the Federation Cup Football, I like to add that poor attendance in the stadium almost in every match and the absence of the live coverage have surely affected the beauty of the game. In addition, there is no talk-show on the television channels, which is really painful. However, we request the BTV to arrange live coverage of the final match in the interest of the football in Bangladesh.
