Unsporting behaviour
We condemn the unsporting behaviour of some of the players of the Calcutta East Bengal in the semifinals of the IFA Shield Football Tournament on Tuesday at Calcutta. May be the players lost control on their temperament as they were trailing by 0-3 and had no chance to come back to the match, which eventually earned bad reputation only for the Indian footfall. However, the team from Dhaka, SJ Dhanmandi Club, sailed into the final with a convincing win to the delight of the sports loving people of Bangladesh. They will now face Calcutta Mohammedan Sporting Club for the trophy to be played on Saturday. We think that SJ Dhanmandi Club will return home exulted. If it is, then it will be a sweet revenge also. The Dhaka team beat also Mohan Bagan at the group stage.
The Dhanmandi Club showed that, as did Spain in the 2010 World Cup, everything did not finish with the defeat in the opening match. The team lost to Calcutta Mohammedans 1-2 in their opening encounter. At this, did the critics believe that Dhanmandi Club would stage a great comeback? In truth, everything is possible in sports.
In this connection, we like to advise the Indian players to learn the techniques of football, and not to learn how to resort to the dangerous fouls on the opponents. If they do that, that will be better. Would they follow the advice?
