Bangladeshi athletes need mentors
Abdullah Hel Baqi, 2014 Commonwealth Games silver medallist in 10 meter air rifle, finished 15th in the underway Asian Games in the same event on Tuesday in Incheon, South Korea. Not only Baqi, the three other Bangladeshi shooters who won gold medals in the Commonwealth Games shooting discipline in 1988 and 2002 flopped because the Asian Games and the Commonwealth Games’ standard is not equal.
When our athletes take part in the international competitions fail to measure the quality because all are not equal. China and South Korea are among the best shooting nations in the world but they do not take part in the Commonwealth Games. This should have been taken into consideration before hand. The trainer of Bangladesh shooting squad said that the shooters excelled in the training session but surprisingly sank in Incheon.
At this we think that Bangladesh athletes need mentors side by side physical trainers in order to perform as per expectation.
