Prevent river pollution

The rivers in Bangladesh have lost their diversity and are plagued by pollution in many ways. For this, far-reaching plans and joint initiatives to prevent this pollution are gravely needed. In this case, urgent and effective action of the authorities concerned is very important. The factories set up in the riverside will have to be forced to expurgate the chemical mixed waste properly. It is also very imperative to take round-the-clock supervision so that the polluted water emanated from the factory does not get mixed up in the river. If our farmers are encouraged to use organic fertilizers without relying too much on chemical fertilizers and pesticides, the level of pollution will be greatly reduced. Appropriate steps need to be taken to discourage indiscriminate dumping of household waste by riverine communities.
If the movement of engine driven boats, launches, steamers, ships and all other vehicles on the river is restricted and made safe, it is expected that the desired results will be achieved in preventing pollution. Awareness campaigns can also be carried out to ensure that no one, including the passengers of these vehicles, throws food scraps, plastic bottles, polythene, food packets etc. into the river. Conventional water (prevention and pollution) laws must be enforced to ensure severe punishment for violators. At the same time, the government should consider the issue of arresting the river grabbers without any political influence. Thus, if awareness can be created at the individual level as well as in the administration, it is expected that river pollution will be greatly reduced.
