Maduro should bow down to people’s power
The political situation in Venezuela is deteriorating fast. The law enforcement agencies have been conducting a massive crackdown to nab the opposition supporters. Earlier, on Tuesday Nicolás Maduro’s Constituent Assembly voted to strip Venezuela’s opposition figurehead Juan Guaidó of the legal protections he enjoys as a member of opposition-controlled parliament. Apparently, it’s a move that potentially opens the door to Guaidó’s arrest.
Apart from some key-figures, Guaidó’s Chief of Staff, who has been accused of leading a terrorist cell that had plotted a wave of political assassinations, is arrested. The Latin American country has been rocked by weeks of crippling nationwide power cuts that Maduro blames on imperialist saboteurs in league with Guaidó. However, many of countrymen believe that this was the result of incompetence and corruption Maduro’s administration.
I want to believe that, Maduro and his inner circle will step down before it is too late. Otherwise, both their party and their country will be destroyed.
