Give due coverage on sports
We are sorry to say that neither the print nor the electronic media takes proper steps to quench the thirst of the of the sports fans of our country. It is true that football matches held in part of Europe, and cricket of all the cricket playing countries are given due weight, but most of the disciplines are ignored. Where is the news on basketball, table tennis, gymnastics, volleyball, badminton and athletics, swimming and shooting? Where is the news of the soccer matches held in South America, Africa, Asia, Oceania and North America?
The 17th edition of the Asia Cup Football 2018 is underway in the United Arab Emirates. It has already reached the round of the 16 stage. But very few television channels and the newspapers including the New Nation are trying to cover the day to day results. This is not enough. We want wide coverage of not only the Asia Cup, but also of the Bangladesh Premier League matches now underway.
