The US-China “trade war”
As a developing nation, we should closely follow developments regarding the ongoing US-China “trade war.” There could be consequences of the war, both positive and negative, for us in terms of trade and economy.
On one hand, Bangladesh could benefit from US tariffs on Chinese products. Also, as China looks for alternatives to US products, Bangladesh could gain in two ways. China has already been attempting to encourage imports from countries like Bangladesh. In addition, US products that Bangladesh imports at this moment could be cheaper because of the Chinese tariffs.
On the other hand, however, America’s deviation from the idea of free trade could be harmful for us, too, as it might adversely affect the global economy.
