Double standard

Killing innocent ones or alleged criminals without real trial, and letting the convicted criminals go does not reflect the actual law and order situation of a country. It rather expresses the highhandedness of the rulers.
Ward councilor of Teknaf Ekramul Haque was killed in so-called ‘gunfight’ over allegation of drug trade though his family members, the locals and even his party men rejected the allegation. Mentionable, he belonged to the ruling party. Moreover, his lifestyle and financial standing do not support the allegation. He served as the president of Teknaf upozila Jubo League for 13 years, and became councilor three times, which prove his dedication to the party and popularity among people.
On the other hand, one of the top criminals in the police list Tofayel Ahmed Joseph left the country being freed after a presidential clemency. Law enforcers believe he runs organized crime rackets from abroad. That is some type of double standard is going on. In principle, it defies democratic rules.
