Roads in deplorable condition
I used to praise Obaidul Quader when he was a MP and did not hesitate to criticise the AL government when necessary. In a clever move he was made Road Transport and Bridges Minister and General Secretary of Awami League and everything has changed. He does not think twice to support everything the government does, the role as the General Secretary of AL is more important to him than the other one.
Everyday numerous road accidents are taking place, killing many people and injuring a lot more.But the Minister is least bothered. Traffic jam have become unbearable ,it has been disclosed in a survey that in 2004 vehicles used to ply 21 kilometres per hour and now it has come down to 5 kilometres ! It is also has been revealed that every day 50 lacs working hours are being lost due to traffic jam. Is this the Picture of a country which is prospering of which the AL government is bragging constantly and saying there is no need for democracy. If democracy is established ,prosperity will come automatically, people must get back their democratic rights.
