Tackling cancer

According to a study by the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), 122,000 people are affected by cancer every year in Bangladesh. A large number of people are deprived of proper medication and treatment because these are expensive. In rural areas, the problem is more acute.
Experts believe if cancer can be detected at the primary level, it can be easily contained. Our government should take more steps to expand public health coverage, especially for chronic diseases like cancer.
