Kaka retires :
Brazil’s super star Ricardo Kaka (35) announced his retirement from the international football on Sunday in despair. Kaká made his professional club debut at the age of 18 with São Paulo FC in Brazil in 2001.
Kaká made his debut for the Brazil national team in 2002, and was selected for their victorious World Cup squad that year, as well as the 2006 and 2010 tournaments, leading the tournament. He was also a member of Brazil’s 2005 and 2009 FIFA Confederations Cup winning squads, winning the Golden Ball Award in the 2009 edition, as the tournament’s best player. With success at club and international level, Kaká was one of seven players to have won the FIFA World Cup, the UEFA Champions League and the Ballon d’Or
He had sharp shooting power, splendid foot and headwork and instant decision taking ability. Kaka scored a brilliant goal against Holland in the World Cup quarterfinals in 2010 in South Africa, but the referee and the assistant referee of that match gave a wrong decision which cost the five times World Champions heavily.
Kaka and Robinho deserved their due places in the Brazil’s 2014 squad, but coach Scolari never considered them. Had these two stars in the team, the sixth title could have been captured to the joys of the football mad nation.
Brazil’s 0-3 defeat in the hands of the hosts France in 1998 World Cup final was the mistake of the coach, who ignored even country’s President’s request for Romario. He had all the qualities for consideration, but the coach was unkind. The weeping star was sent back to Brazil from Paris.
The 2018 World Cup starts in June with 32 countries in the race. Brazil and Germany are co-favourites, but there will be no Kaka.
