BPL – more commercial than sporting

There is no doubt that the Bangladesh Premier League (of Cricket), at its outer face value, has superseded the Indian Premier League in respect of thrill, attraction, uncertainty in result till the last over or last ball of a match, and the BCB’s sincere role in making the competition really striking. Of all the matches so far played, the Dhaka-Comilla encounter that took place on Monday should be judged as the most exciting match since the course of the game swayed from time to timed.
On that day, Shoeb Malik from Pakistan displayed how to play a T20 match under pressure and guide to victory. He proved, “To hit four and six are not the only beauty of a cricket match. To play with patience under extreme pressure is also beauty of a match.”
Another Pakistani Hasan Ali created a non-controversial record having bowled out five batsmen of Dhaka Dynamites. However, Dhaka team’s 128 runs at one stage appeared like rock to Comilla Victorians though they finally won. I am sorry for Rajshahi Kings, who have disappointed millions of supporters by poor performance. We want them to strike back.
However, the BPL, more so the cricket was a whole, is not without a vice. Firstly, the power circle of the country, as observed, uses this gentle men’s game to draw away the public attention from the real crisis that the country face in day to day life. For example, the Rohingya crisis is now really vital for the country. But the BPL Holla-Bolla has managed to draw public mind far away from the crisis. At the top of all, this time BPL suffers from the curse of gambling. Lanes and by-lanes of the cities and towns of the country are now absorbed with BPL gambling. It is also promoting crisis leading to fatalities. In Badda area, a university student has been stabbed to death as he protested such gambling centering BPL betting. Interestingly, police is just onlookers of the entire show.
