Wrong application of AFC rules :
Contrarily to the FIFA and the AFC clause, the fate of the SAARC U-18 Football Championship was decided on the basis of the head to head results. According to the clause, if the points of two or more teams are equal, the team having superior goal average will become the eventual champions. Had this rule been applied in the SAARC tournament 2017, Bangladesh would have been the ultimate winners. So unlucky we were that we have been deprived of the title even though we had the better goal average than Nepal.
The five-nation championship concluded in Bhutan on Wednesday with Nepal as champions and Bangladesh as runners-up on the basis of the head to head result. The two other participating nations were India and Maldives. Nonetheless, Pakistan did not take part, while Sree Lanka made a last minute withdrawal from the race.
In this regard, we draw the attention of the FIFA for uniform application of their clause and b-clause.
