Uncertain Champions Trophy
The world of cricket had perhaps watched the last edition of the ICC Champions Trophy, and Pakistan as champions last month. It is because the cricket’s world governing body seems less interested to continue this format of the world championship. We have to, however, wait few more months for final decision.
Pakistan apart from winning the title for the first time earned the distinction of beating formidable rival India, which they could never do in the past. Pakistan won the World Cup in 1992, but lost to India at group stage. Pakistan’s triumph means that phobia in sports can be overcome by conviction and concentration of mind on the pitch.
Bangladesh team’s defeat to India by a big margin was no surprise. Such result can happen in sports. In this connection, we like to request our team management and the players to take lessons from mistakes and to try to control their lips. If it is done, that will be better.
We will also request the ICC to be sensible in draw, as two teams from the similar continent should not be placed in the same group. As for example, Australia and New Zealand were penciled in the same group of the concluded ICC Champions Trophy. The ICC may take lessons from the FIFA in this respect.
