Congratulation cricketers :
We are happy with the performance of our cricketers who steered Bangladesh cricket team to a creditable four wickets victory in their hundredth Test match in Colombo on Sunday. Surely the victory will stimulate our players to repeat the Colombo concert in the two shorter versions of cricket beginning from March 25.
We are also happy that pace bowler Mustafizur Rahman proved his merit by capturing eight wickets giving away 27.50 runs per wicket, best among the Bangladeshi bowlers. Mehedi Miraj and Sakib Al Hasan harpooned 10 and nine wickets, giving away 35.10 and 39.77 runs per over respectively. These three bowlers shattered the hosts Sri Lanka’s hopes to win the series and sent a warning to the other Test playing countries.
Among the batsmen, captain Musfiqur Rahim have the best average with 64.54 runs per innings followed by Tamim Iqbal, who set up 51.75 runs. The three other top batsmen were Soumya Sarkar, Sakib and Miraj with 48.75, 40.50 and 31.66 runs respectively per innings.
The record shows that Sakib and Miraj are the two best all-rounder of our country, particularly Miraj, we think, has a very bright future if he gets support.
In this regard, we have to say something, and it is that both Mustafizur and Miraj should be withdrawn from the longer version so that Bangladesh get more from them in the shorter versions. The Bangladesh Cricket Board may consider our suggestion if deemed practicable.
