RCC forms 29-member development, planning advisory council

BSS, Rajshahi :Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) has formed a 29-member development and planning advisory council aims at implementing its uplift and other activities smoothly and successfully.City mayor Musaddique Hossain Bulbul initiated the body in a pre-iftar discussion held at Nanking Darbar Hall in the city yesterday.Former mayors, administrative officials, department heads, Freedom Fighters (FF), Businessmen, Journalists and women entrepreneurs were included in the council that will work and devise ways and means on how to elevate the metropolis in coordinated efforts.With mayor Bulbul in the chair, former mayors Advocate Abdul Hadi, Durul Huda and Mijanur Rahman Minu, FF Nur Hamim Rizvi, Awami League Leader Mustaque Hossain Labu, President of Rajshahi Chamber of Commerce and Industry Abu Bakker Ali and Chief Executive Officer of Rajshahi Development Authority Nazirul Islam were present, among others.Referring to bringing transparency and accountability in the uplift programmes, Bulbul said no works would be kept hidden and everything would be reflected in the budget.He said the city corporation has been implementing five major projects involving Taka 427.31 crore at present aims at bringing a qualitative change particularly in the field of infrastructural and environmental elevation in the metropolis.The projects are infrastructural development, City Bhaban construction, midtown road widening, repairing east-west connecting road and drainage.The city corporation has also planned twelve other projects which are waiting for government approval. “We are committed to build the city planned way for improving living and livelihood condition of the citizens. We need full-length support of the government for successful implementation of the adopted projects,” he added.Mayor Bulbul said the city corporation has been implementing to make Rajshahi Green Project and step has been taken to plant more than 10,000 tree saplings during the 2014-15 fiscal.On the occasion, he also mentioned that different other infrastructural and need-oriented programmes have been adopted in the city.
