Razzaque seeks Chinese cooperation to process, export agricultural goods

Agriculture Minister Dr Muhammad Abdur Razzaque on Monday sought Chinese cooperation in processing as well as exporting agricultural products and technical assistances for the sector, saying that Bangladesh has a huge potentials in agriculture.
The minister sought the cooperation when a seven-member Chinese delegation led by Vice-Minister (tax and general administration) Zhang Jiwen met him at his ministry office here, said a press release.
“The country of food deficiency is now self-sufficient in food. We want Chinese cooperation to process and export foods. As the Chinese market is very large, Bangladesh will export quality products to China as per their demand,” Razzaque said.
He also underscored the need for technical assistances from China for the agriculture sector.
Informing that Beijing wants to import rice bran from Dhaka, the Chinese vice minister urged the agriculture minister to inform the Chinese embassy in Dhaka about exporting agricultural products to China.
Jiwen said there will be no obstacle for Bangladesh in exporting agricultural products along with others goods to China.
When Razzaque sought Chinese cooperation to resolve the Rohingya crisis, the Chinese vice minister said his country will speak in the international forums on behalf of Bangladesh in this regard.
Other members of the delegation were Deputy Director General (DDG) of Taxation Division Sun Renyu, Bureau of Import and Export Food Safety DDG Yu Wenjun, Xiamen Costume District DDG Chen Yu, secretary to the vice minister (general) Chu Yu, DDG International Cooperation Department Chen Yue and third secretary of the Economic and Commercial Consular Office Gu Zhiqin.
Agriculture Minister Md Nasiruzzaman was also present at the meeting.
