Mohammad Athif, father of Maldivian medical student Raudha Athif, on Sunday claimed that her daughter was killed in a planned way and the authorities concerned of the college and the physicians are trying to hush up the matter. “Raudha was strangled to death…signs were there on her body,” Athif, who is a physician,
told a press briefing at Rajshahi Press Club on Sunday. Reading out a written statement, he said, “No one saw her hanging from the ceiling fan, and in the photo snaps it was seen that Raudha lying on her bed.”
Besides, he claimed fingerprints were found on the neck of Raudha while the autopsy report said she had committed suicide with a cotton scarf which is ‘false’. Raising question about the role of the authorities concerned of the Islami Bank Medical College and the physicians who conducted the autopsy of Raudha, Athif said the authorities concerned did not conduct any X-ray or MRI to detect the sign on Raudha’s neck.
He also blamed the negligence of Shah Makhdum Thana Police and Metropolitan intelligence police for their failure to unearth the mystery behind the death. Meanwhile, Raudha’s body will be exhumed for fresh autopsy on Monday, said Asmaul Haq, a CID inspector and also the investigation officer of the case.
Earlier, on April 18, a court asked the authorities concerned to exhume the body of Raudha for a fresh post-mortem. On March 29, Raudha Athif, 20, a 2nd year student of MBBS, was found hanging at the female dormitory of the medical college hospital. Raudha’s father Mohammad Athif filed a case against a Kashmiri classmate of Raudha. She was buried at a graveyard at Hetekha in the city with the consent of her family following a postmortem on March 31.
