The matches of the Dr. Mirza Akmal Hossain International Rating Chess Tournament-2016, organised by Bangladesh Mohila Daba Samity associated by Bangladesh Chess Federation began from Sunday at Bangladesh Chess Federation hall-room in the old building of National Sports Council.
Ashoke Kumar Biswas Joint Secretary of Bangladesh Government and Secretary of National Sports Council inaugurated the event as chief guest.
Mizanur Rahman Chairman of Best way Groups, K M Shahidullah Vice President of Bangladesh Chess Federation, Syeda Taslima Akter Assistant Director (Sports) of National Sports Council, Sohel Hamid General Secretary of Squash Federation, Mohammed Enayet Hossain President of Chess Players Association.
A total of 36 female players including WIM Rani Hamid, National Woman Champion WFM Nazrana Khan, WFM Sharmin Sultana Shirin and WFM Zakia Sultana are participating. The event are being held in 7 round Swiss-League system and cash prize money will be given to the winners.
