Rape suspect killed in alleged shootout in Dhaka

Staff Reporter: A rape suspect has killed in a ‘gunfighth’ with Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), in Khilkhet area in the capital. The incident took place at 2:15 am on Tuesday, ASP Md Kamruzzaman, Acting Company Commander of RAB-1, said it.
The decesead man has been identified as 34-year-old Anwar Hossain, was implicated in 19 cases, including drug trafficking and rape, with Khilkhet police station. Rab officials said that the traffickers opened fire on a RAB patrol team upon their arrival in the area at night, leading to a retaliation from the Rab. At one point, the assailants fled the area and a bullet-ridden man was found on the spot, said officer Kamruzzaman. He was rushed to Kurmitola General Hospital where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.
Four guns and a huge quantity of yaba tablets were recovered from the spot, according to the Rab.
