Staff Reporter :Three bogies and engine of Rangpur Express train have caught fire in Ullapara of Sirajganj while eight bogies of it have derailed around 2:00pm.
Eight persons were found injured in the incident.
The rail communication of the capital with the northern and southern districts suspended after the incident.
Assistant Station Master of Ullapara rail station Rafiqul Islam confirmed the matter to the media.
“Eight bogies of the Lalmonirhat-bound train derailed after the engine caught fire, just after leaving the Ullapara rail station,” Rafiqul Islam said.
Local people have witnessed plume of smoke on the spot.
Office in-charge of Ullapara Police Station Kawshik Ahmed confirmed the fire caused by the derailment but he did not give any detail in this regard.
Meanwhile a rescue team has been sent to Ullapara from from Pabna’s Ishwardi, said, Assistant Executive Engineer of West Bengal Railway (Pakshi) Ashrafuddin.
