Rangpur, Ctg struggling for runs in U-16 Nat’l Cricket

Rangpur and Chittagong divisions suffered a run draught in the Young Tigers Under-16 National Cricket Tournament as they scored 70 and 61 runs respectively in their first innings on day-1 at Zilla Muktijuddho Smriti Stadium, Rajshahi on Friday.
At the end of the first day, Rangpur Division was leading by 35 runs in the second innings scoring 26 runs for 4 at stumps in 13 overs, with opener Shahriar Rahman scoring 13 runs.
Mahfuzur Rahman and Khalid Hasan were on batting with no run when the bails were drawn for the day.
Sajib Miah grabbed three wickets for 12 runs in 3 overs while Hasan Mahmud took one wicket for 10 runs in 4 overs.
Earlier, batting first after winning the toss, Rangpur opened the first innings and scored 70 runs for all in 39.1 overs with Khalid Hasan, the only double digit scorer in the innings, scoring 25 runs.
Abul Alim grabbed four wickets for 29 runs in 13 overs while Sarwar Hossain Sakib captured three wickets for 14 runs in 6.1 overs. Hasan Mahmud took two wickets for 4 runs in 6 overs and Sajib Mia took one wicket for 16 runs in 10 overs.
In reply, Chittagong opened the first innings and were bundled out for 61 runs in 41.1 overs.
Aftab Nihal (25) and skipper cum opener Momo Reza (13) were the double digit scorers for the side.
Omar Faruk claimed six wickets for economic 10 runs in 14.1 overs while Saidul Islam Sumon grabbed four wickets for 15 runs in 10 overs.
