A local Awami League activist was hacked to death by some unidentified miscreants at Manirampur village in Pirgachha upazila early Friday.
Additional Superintendent of Police of Rangpur Abdullah Al Faruk said some miscreants called Russel Miah, 30, a resident of Manirampur village, over phone around 3am and asked him to come out of his home.
When Russel came out of his house, the miscreants chopped him with sharp weapons, leaving him dead on the spot. Police arrested two people in connection with the murder, the Additional SP added.
