Ramzan excels other months as it is the month of Revelation of Al Quran–the ‘guide to mankind’. Holy Quran says : “Ramzan is the month in which was sent down the Quran, as a guide to mankind, also clear (signs) for
guidance and judgement (between right and wrong)… “This occasion coincides Hazrat Muhammad (Sm)’s becoming the final and the greatest Messenger. Holy Ramzan is superior to other months in these most significant respects.
So, this month has unique importance to Allah. He wants that the Muslims by their allegiance to His Commandments, go on with the process of purifying themselves through fasting.
Ramzan has three phases according to holy Hadith. The first ten days are of Rahmat (Mercy), the second ten days are of Maghfirat (Forgiveness) and the last days are of Nazat (Salvation). (Baihaqi) So, we should seek Allah’s Mercy, forgiveness and salvation in this month.
A Hadith, narrated by Hazrat Abu Hurayra (Ra) : “Rasulullah (Sm) said, when the month of Ramzan comes, the doors of Heaven are opened and the doors of hell are closed; and the satan is chained.” (Bukhari, Muslim Sharif)
In the Muslim Sharif it is stated : “The doors of Mercy are opened.”
Rasulullah (Sm) said, “There is no month better than Ramzan for Muslims; and it is the worst month for the Munafiqs.” (Ibne Khuzaima)
He said, “If the servants of Allah knew the virtue of Ramzan, they would expect the whole year to be Ramzan.” (Musnade Kazzar, Kanzul Ommal)
In this month of the greatest blessings of Allah Rabbul Aalameen, when our repentance is accepted, our sins are forgiven and virtue of good deeds are multiplied, we should avail ourselves of the golden opportunity of uplifting our lives to humanistic ideals. We should remember (zikr) Allah, spend in the way of Allah, help the needy, struggle to the utmost to uphold Truth, lead the middle course of life, pay obligatory Jakat, recite durud to Rasulullah (Sm), recite the Holy Quran, strive to create a peaceful human society, seek emancipation in this world and salvation in the Hereafter.
