UNB, Dhaka :Police have arrested the mastermind of the gang rape of a young woman at her relative’s house in the city’s Rampura area. The arrestee was identified as Nayem, 20, a resident of Rampura area.Tipped off, a team of Rampura Police Station launched a drive in West Rampura at around 7:30pm and arrested Nayem, sources at the police station said.On June 13, the 18-year-old woman along with her husband M Momin came to the house of their relative Halima Begum in West Rampura from Chittagong.A group of 10-12 local miscreants, including Nayem, Sujon, Moin, Arif and Farhad, stormed into the house of Halima around 9:30am and snatched Tk 3,000 from Momin after beating him. Halima was outside the house at that time.The culprits also forced Momin to transfer Tk 4,000 from his bKash wallet to one of their accounts. Sensing something fishy, neighbours informed Halima of the incident. She then rushed to the house. However, the gangsters confined her husband and Halima to a room and four of them violated Momin’s wife in turns. The matter came to light on Saturday when the victim was admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) for medical test. Victim’s husband filed a case with Rampura Police Station in this connection.
