Ramna blast accused indicted again

The Speedy Trial Tribunal-1 of Dhaka yesterday framed supplementary charges in the case filed in connection with Ramna Batamul bomb attack under the Explosive Substances Act.
Judge Shahed Nur Uddin of the tribunal framed the charges including Section 6 with Section 3 of the Explosive Substances Act as sought by the prosecution and fixed September 21 to record the depositions other witnesses.
Earlier, seven witnesses of the case testified in the case in 2009 and the apex court stayed the proceedings of the case for about five years. Later, the trial resumed on last July 17.
On September 4, the prosecution appeal to the court to include Section 6 with Section 3 of the concerned act and the court granted plea hearing the submissions of the prosecution and defense.
In the murder case filed in connection with the incident, the Second Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge’s Court of Dhaka sentenced eight people including Huji leader Mufti Abdul Hannan to death, six others were awarded life term imprisonment on last June 23.
On April 14, 2001, ten people were killed and many others were injured in a bomb attack at a function arranged by cultural organization, the Chhayanat.
