November 18 is the birthday of Ekushey Award and National Film Award winner singer Bashir Ahmed. With the initiative taken by the late singer’s son Raja Bashir and daughter Homayra Bashir, a programme titled ‘Bashir Ahmed Sommanona’ is going to be arranged at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy on November 17 evening. To pay tribute to the noted singer, Raja and Homayra Bashir and popular singer Kanakchapa will render a song titled Tomar Upoma Tumi.
Enamul Haque Apu wrote lyrics of the song. Raja Bashir has composed its tune and music.
Recording of the song was done at Sargam Sound Station at Bashir Ahmed’s Mohammadpur residence on November 10. All three singers lent their voices for the song. Noted music director Moinul Islam Khan was also present during recording of the song.
During childhood Kanakchapa started learning music from Bashir Ahmed. She received training from him for 12 years at a time. In fact, Bashir Ahmed called Kanakchapa as ‘Tape-recorder.’ While talking about her mentor Kanakchapa said, “In fact, when I gave my voice for the song I was in mixed emotional feelings. If he alive he would surely delighted to hear the song. Raja Bashir is a born singer. My husband was also impressed to listen the song. He was not only my mentor in music but also an idol of my life philosophy.”
Homayra Bashir said, “When Kanak Apa offered us to make such a song we were really enthusiastic. In fact, when I listen the song I always feel my father is with me and also remain elsewhere of us.”
Raja Bashir shared his feelings by this way, “Right now I am missing my mother rather than father because she always pointed out flaws of my songs. I am also missing my wife who is now outside the country. If she remains here she will surely encourage me. I have made music video of the song. This song will be also released on YouTube channel of Sargam. Shilpakala Academy also co-operated us in this regard.”
