World Environment Day observed: Raising awareness on plastic pollution stressed

 A discussion meeting on the occasion of the World Environment Day organised by District Administration and Department of Environment was held at local Shilpakala Academy here on Tuesday with a view to creating mass awareness about the adverse impacts of environmental pollution.
This year the them of the day is ‘Beat Plastic Pollution’ while slogan of the day is ‘if you cannot reuse it, refuse it.
Deputy Commission of Narsingdi Seyda Farhana Kawnine attended the meeting as Chief Guest and addressed. She said, the adverse impacts of environmental pollution are visible in different sectors. She said due to excessive use and production of plastic, ecological balance is being damaged. She said, adding that the reuse and recycle of plastic is an urgent now to protect environment
Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Abdul Awal presided over the discussion meeting while Additional Police Super Jakir Hossain addressed in the meeting as special guest
Deputy Director (Acting), Department of Environment Aktaruzzaman Toku presented the welcome speech.
Among others President of Narsingdi Chamber of Commerce Abdullah Al Mamun, President of district Textile and Dying Association Aftab uddin Bhuiyan and District Brick field honors association Khagandra Chandra addressed in the meeting.
Speakers in the meeting discussed on the theme of the year “Beat Plastic pollution”. They called upon all concerned to create awareness about environment pollution for maintaining ecological balance. They also urged all to give knowledge the students on environment and raise awareness to take positive environmental action to protect nature across the country
Later Saplings of various trees were distributed among the students by the district administration and Department of Environment.
Earlier a colorful rally led by Deputy Commissioner Seyda farhana kawnine was brought out from Circuit house to Deputy Commissioner’s office premises.

Zillur Rahman as special guest, Additional Police Super Nazmul Islam, Environment Protect Forum Convener Principal Sharaf Sadi, BAPA President Professor Rabindranath Chowdhury, CAB General Secretary Monour Hossain Rony, Women Leader Bilkis Begum, Awami League Anayet Karim Omi and Krishak League General Secretary Anawar Hossain Bacchu.
