A mobile court of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-3) awarded punishment to 24 brokers after they were arrested from Dhaka Medical College & Hospital (DMCH) on Thursday.
RAB-3 Executive Magistrate Palash Kumar Bashu handed down the sentence on Thursday noon.
At the end of the operation, the Magistrate said that the operation was conducted on the basis of specific information.
These brokers used to take the patients to various
ward and cabin of DMCH by displaying cards of various small and big hospitals, clinics and diagnostic centers.
There are allegations that a section of dishonest officials and employees of the hospital and the members of the duty Ansar are indirect patrons of this gang.
They generally give the opportunity to the brokers to visit the hospital in exchange of taking money from the brokers.
However, after the raid, Director of DMCH Brigadier General Nazmul Haque told the New Nation that the action would be taken if anyone from the hospital was involved with the brokers.
We fully support this raid, Director added.
