RAB demands ban on TikTok, Likee apps

Young people are making various videos following subcultures through controversial apps, including TikTok-Likee that contain violent and vulgar chapter. Recently, the issue of sexual abuse of a Bangladeshi girl in India came to the notice of the administration.
In the onset of this incident, the RAB has demanded to ban the controversial apps including TikTok.
The agency’s director general (DG) Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun said it is high time to ban controversial apps, including TikTok-Likee.
He was speaking as the chief guest at a debate contest on titled “misuse of social media to increase juvenile delinquency” by Debate for Democracy at Bangladesh Film Development Corporation in the capital on Saturday.
According to the RAB DG, the perpetrators of various crimes are being listed based on the use of various mobile apps including TikTok and Likee.
He said 82 percent of the people who use the internet remain active on social media.
Social media is also largely responsible for various crimes. Negative aspects should be avoided by adopting technology.
There is no chance of committing any crime. Now no one can get away with the crime. If anyone commits a crime, strict action will be taken, DG added.
Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun believes that crime will be reduced if everyone performs his duties from his position.
The RAB chief also urged parents to keep an eye on their children so that they cannot be involved in any kind of crimes like juvenile gangs and militancy.
It is mentionable that a recent video clip of sexual assault on a girl in India, which went viral on social media, has created outcry and police have confirmed the victim’s identity and that one of the traffickers is Bangladeshi.
Police said the girl, aged around 24, was trafficked to India from Dhaka and forced to be a sex worker.
Indian police said they had arrested five youths over the incident, who are from Bangladesh.
The victim’s father filed a case with Hatirjheel Police Station over the human trafficking incident.
It is learned that TikTok Hridoy has been operating online groups and has his fan-base. He was approached by Ashraf two years ago for trafficking girls. Hridoy then started using his group to lure young girls into India.
