Rapid Action Battalion claimed to have busted a firearms-making factory at a remote hilly area in Ukhia upazila of Cox’s Bazar and arrested two firearms makers in this connection.
The arrestees are Abu Majid alias Kana Majid and Robi Alam of Moheshkhali upazila of the district, said Major Mehedi Hasan, deputy commanding officer of Rab-15, on Saturday.
Acting on a tip-off, a team of Rab-15 launched a drive in a Madhurchhara hilly area adjacent to Kutupalong Rohingya camp yesterday afternoon and arrested Majid and Robi, said Major Mehedi Hasan.
Later, the Rab team recovered two guns, two bullets and several equipment used for manufacturing firearms from a hut made by the arrestees, he said.
The duo had been making firearms in Madhurchhara hilly area for long and supplying those to Rohingya robbers, our Cox’s Bazar correspondent reports quoting the Rab official.
