Rapid Action Battalion Unit-8 operating drives in different areas under their jurisdiction on Wednesday night to Thursday morning arrested 11 miscreants and recovered arms- ammunitions, drugs, mobile phone sets.
Major Adnan Kabir, deputy commander and spokesman of RAB-8 holding a press briefing at RAB-8 headquarter in Rupatali area of Barisal city disclosed these facts in presence of the arrestees on Thursday noon.
In briefing, RAB-8 official said operating drives at Hamirdi area on Barisal-Dhaka highway three were arrested during preparation for committing dacoity.
After interrogating them 8 other associates of the miscreants’ gang arrested till Thursday morning after operating drives in different areas under Vanga upazila of Faridpur district.
The arrested miscreants were Imam Hossain Palash, Krishna Kanta Majumdar, Sumon Hossain, Israfil Matubbar, Asadur Rahman, Robi Chandra Das, Sohel Talukdar, Nur Hossain, Jewel Matubbar, Sohel Matubbar and Radhey Shayam Mandal.
Among them Sumon was resident Jatrabari area of Dhaka and other ten were from different areas of Vanga upazila under Faridpur district.
During the drives one pistol, one shooter gun, five rounds ammunitions, three sharp weapons, 23 mobile phones with 60 SIM cards, 3 bottles Phensidyl, 360 pieces Yaba tablets, 3 three-cutting saws and 1 laptop, were also recovered from the arrestees.
Besides RAB-8 also arrested 3 cheaters with fake-currency notes worth Tk 35 thousands on early Thursday from Charkhali Bazaar areas of Vandaria upazila under Pirojpur district.

The arrestees were identified as Mohsin Farazi, Rubel Haoladar and Alamin Haoladar of Majher Pul of Mithakhali under Mathbaria upazila of Pirojpur.
After interrogations all arrestees would be handed over to concerned police stations for legal action, Major Adnan said.
