RAB arrest 4 on charges of human trafficking

The elite force Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested four people on charges of human trafficking. The accused persons were arrested from Dhaka and Cumilla on Sunday in separate drives.
Commander of RAB-3 Lt. Col. Arif Mohiuddin disclosed this information in a press conference organized at RAB’s media center in the capital’s Karwan Bazar on Monday afternoon.
It was said in the press conference that four young men were victims of human trafficking recently. They returned home and complained to RAB against human traffickers.
Four people were arrested based on their complaint. The arrested persons are identified as ringleader Tofail Ahmed (28), Md. Akter Hossain (38), Md. Anishur Rahman (36) and Md. Russel (30).
Colonel Arif Mohiuddin said the mastermind of the gang Tofail used to lure unemployed youth from different parts of the country to go abroad. He and his accomplices used to smuggle unemployed youth out of the country.
Four young victims were also present at RAB’s media center. And they spoke to the media.
At the time, the victims said that they were trafficked to Dubai where they were detained and tortured.
At one point they managed to escape from the gang. After escaping, they passed almost two weeks without food on sidewalks, parks and beaches.
Later, they took money from home and returned to the country with the help of some Bangladeshis in Dubai.
A victim told the media that she was introduced to Tofail through an acquaintance. Tofail assured to send some others including him to Dubai. He took about five and a half lakh taka from each of the victims. He took their passports.
At one point he took everyone to Dhaka’s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport. After entering the airport, give the passport. They went to Dubai. One member of the gang took them from Dubai airport. They were taken to a house and detained.
Even money for hand expenses was also taken forcefully from them. If they want a job, they are tortured. When they were taken from one house to another, they escaped. Later they stayed on sidewalks, parks and beaches. At the time they passed their time without food.
At last, they came to Dhaka from Dubai on September 5 with money from home.
