UNB, Dhaka :
Taking a swipe at Amnesty International (AI) for its statement on Bangladesh’s ongoing political situation, Food Minister Quamrul Islam on Friday termed it a ‘BNP-paid organisation’ as it what he said speaks in BNP’s tone.
“They’re criticising the government accusing it of violating human rights. But they don’t notice BNP’s terrorist acts of killing people by torching vehicles and hurling petrol bombs. They don’t consider these activities as human rights violation. They’re a paid organisation of BNP,” he said.
The minister was addressing a discussion meeting organised by Bangladesh Islami United Party at Dhaka Reporters Unity.
AI, the London-based rights group, in a statement on January 22 urged the government of Bangladesh to ensure that law enforcers do not use excessive or unnecessary force.
