NUB workshop: Quality education in varsities stressed

A three-day long workshop that ended on Saturday stressed the need for enhancing quality education in the universities. The workshop on “Pedagogy and Metacognitive Techniques and Tools” was held in the BIIS hall of Northern University Bangladesh (NUB), organized by the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of the university.
Chairman of the Trustee Board of NUB Professor AYM Abdullah attended the closing session as the chief guest while acting Vice-Chancellor Professor AWM Abdul Huq, Pro-VC Professor Dr Anwarul Karim, Treasurer Md Anwar Hussain and Registrar Lieutenant Colonel (Retd) Aqtedar Ahmed Siddiqui were the special guests.
Additional Director of IQAC of NUB Zillur Rahman moderated the workshop while Associate Professor and Head of English Department K Ahmed Alam conducted different sessions.
The deans of different faculties, teachers and heads of several departments participated in the workshop.
Professor AYM Abdullah said quality education is a must to progress a nation. The aim of this workshop, he said, is to ‘enhancing quality education in varsities’.
Stressing the importance of research, he said it creates new knowledge for the next generation.
Professor Abdullah called upon the faculty members of the university to ensure quality education as well as involve themselves in research for the interest of the nation.
