Quality edn to ensure knowledge-based society emphasised

Primary and Mass Education Minister Mostafizur Rahman said knowledge-based modern society cannot be built without quality education.
“There is no alternative to standard education to make the country self-reliant in the field of education. The children should be provided with standard, developed and constructive education so that they can contest in the world’s competition,” he said.
The minister said this while addressing a function on the premises of Mirpur National Government Primary School marking the Textbook Festival-2016.
Lawmakers Kamal Ahmed Majumder, Elias Uddin Mollah, Aslamul Haque, Nurul Islam, Ali Azam and Umme Razia Kajal, Primary and Mass Education Secretary Mohammad Humayun Khalid joined the function as special guests.
Mostafizur Rahman said it is a huge achievement of the government as it has distributed 33,37,62,772 textbooks among 4,44,16,728 students of pre-primary, primary, ebtedayee, secondary, dhakhil and technical students for the 2016 academic year. The minister hoped that the distribution of textbooks will reduce the dropout rate of children from schools.
He thanked all concerned including officials and employees of National Curriculum and Textbook Board and Directorate of Primary Education for their endeavors to make the Textbook Festival a success.
