Qualitative, quantitative pry education stressed

Speakers at a meeting in Rajshahi emphasised the need for making the primary education qualitative and quantitative to free the nation from the curse of illiteracy.
Terming the primary education as foundation of all higher institutional learning they said maximum importance should be given on making it effective and meaningful to strengthen the foundation.
Conscious Citizens Committee (CCC), a sister organization of Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB), organized the meeting to mark the unveiling of a citizen report card survey 2013 of Naodapara Govt. Primary School held at Master Chef Restaurant on Thursday.
CCC President and Pro-VC of Rajshahi University Prof Dr Chowdhury Sarwar Jahan addressed the event as chief guest while District Primary Education Officer Nafisha Begum and Boalia Thana Education Officer Rakhi Chakravarty spoke as special guests.
School Managing Committee President Ashraf Ali Choowdhury, Headmaster Azizur Rahman, TIB Area Manager Monirul Haque and Assistant Programme Manager (Policy and Research) Mahmud Hassan Talukder also spoke.
Prof Chowdhury Sarwar Jahan urged the teachers and others concerned to put in their best efforts for qualitative development of primary education.
He said the present government has been working relentlessly for overall improvement of the primary education sector. He, however, said primary teachers are the key-players for qualitative and quantitative improvement of the students and they should perform their duties with utmost sincerity and honesty to attain the goal.
The rural educational institutions should be transformed into time-befitting as well as centre of excellence by bringing those under close monitoring and supervision.
