Qualitative petroleum Bitumen is being imported from a number of Middle East countries including Sarjah UAE as raw material for the Bitumen factory in Bangladesh. Sister concern of PHP Family, Bay Terminal is importing the petroleum Bitumen from UAE and marketing in Bangladesh market for use in the development activities of the country through abiding the import policy and NBR rules of the country for the last 20 years. After testing the recently imported Bitumen in the lab of Eastern Refinery, Chattogram Customs has permitted the Bay Terminal to take delivery of this imported Bitumen from the vessel.
General Manager of PHP Family Ershadul Mostafa told that the quality of these imported Bitumen are being tested in the labs of Eastern Refinery and BUET and hence are permitted to deliver the consignment to the importer. These imported Bitumen are being used in the road development works with reputation.Despite obeying the existing rules of the customs, NBR before import , the consignee is being harassed in different ways, said an official of PHP group on condition of anonymity. He said, some vested quarters are misleading the businessmen, users against the imported Bitumen with malafied intention aimed at tarnishing the reputation of the company.
