Awami League (AL) General Secretary and Road, Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader will return home on Wednesday after taking treatment from a Singapore hospital.
“A Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight (BG 085) will carry him back home at 6pm on Wednesday,” Awami League acting general secretary Mahabub-Ul-Alam Hanif, MP, told journalists at a press conference after a secretariat meeting of the party and its other associate bodies at AL President Sheikh Hasina’s Dhanmondi political office here on Tuesday.
He said, “Awami League General Secretary and Road, Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader is now quite well. He would be able to perform his political works like before.”
Earlier, on March 3 last, the AL general secretary was admitted to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) hospital here after suffering breathing complications.
Tests revealed three blockages in his coronary artery and subsequently he was flown to Singapore for better treatment. Quader underwent a bypass surgery on March 20 there.
