The Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) has launched a probe into an allegation against an executive engineer of Public Works Department that he embezzled about Tk 7 crore from the department,
The Commission at its recent meeting decided to initiate a probe into the graft allegation, ACC public relations officer Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya told on Wednesday.
The ACC has already appointed its deputy director Hamidul Hasan as an inquiry officer as to conduct the probe against PWD executive engineer (Azimpur Division) Utpal Kumar Dey.
According to the graft allegation received by the
ACC, the PWD allocated nearly Tk 7 crore in fiscal 2012-13 to conduct repair and maintenance works of its Azimpur Estate. But, no work has been carried out in the five zones of Azimpur Estate.
Allegations have that Utpal Kumar Dey in collusion with other PWD officials misappropriated the money.
