Staff Reporter :
The Ministry of Liberation War Affairs has decided to scrap the freedom fighter’s certificate of Public Works Department Chief Engineer (PWD) Hafizur Rahman Munshi Tipu as he indulged forgery in obtaining the certificate.
The Ministry came up with the move at the meeting of Jatiya Muktijoddha Council (Jamuka) held at its Kakrail office in the city on Thursday, presided over by Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque.
Admitting the matter, AKM Mozzamel Hoque told The New Nation on Friday night that the documents which Hafizur Rahman Munshi submitted to the ministry to show him a freedom fighter appeared to be fake proving that he is not a real freedom fighter.
He said the PDW Chief Engineer was quizzed earlier after a parliamentary watchdog accused him of obtaining a fake FF certificate.
“We launched a probe regarding the matter following the complaint,” he said adding that the Ministry later summoned Munshi for quizzing. During the interrogation he was asked to submit relevant documents to prove that he actually had joined the War of Liberation in 1971 and where he received training in India before joining the war.
“I personally scrutinized the documents and give my opinion to the Jamuka that he is a fake freedom fighter,” added the minister.
