Pvt univs without own campus to face music : Nahid

Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid warned the private universities without campus of their own of facing strict action recently.
The minister was addressing the first convocation of BGC Trust University on its Chandnaish campus.
Media Adviser to the Prime Minister Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury attended the function as the convocation speaker where Prof Abdul Mannan, Chairman of the University Grants Commission (UGC), was the special guest.
Engr Afsaruddin Ahmed, Chairman of BGC Trustee Board, Prof Saroj Sinha Hazari, Vice Chancellor of the university, also spoke on the occasion.
In his convocation speech Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury, also the Daily Observer Editor, called upon the graduates, who have already joined their respective professions, to build themselves up as worthy citizens of the country with honesty and dedication.
He also urged the graduates to remain alert against malpractices for building up a just and ethical society.
Iqbal Sobhan also urged them to remain above greed and selfishness in their practical fields.
The BGC Trust University was set up in 2003. A total of 7377 students received graduation degrees from five faculties.
More than 2000 graduates took part in the first convocation of the university.
