National Film Award, the most prominent film award ceremony of the country is all set to take place at the Bangabandhu International Conference Centre on July 24.
With the presence of prominent figures of the national film awards will be handed over to the winners of the year 2015 in different categories by prime minister Sheikh Hasina. To add spice to the grand ceremony, two popular actors of the industry, Purnima and Chanchal Chowdhury will be seen as the anchors of the ceremony.
Actor Purnima, who is well-known for her witty anchoring skills, is excited to have the opportunity.
“I’ve been confirmed the role on Wednesday. I am involved with films. So, having the opportunity to host the National Film Award program is definitely wonderful. I am feeling lucky,” Purnima said.
The 36 year old actor is stoked to perform her duty with sincerity and in a disciplined manner.
“Anchors have to run the program based on a script. There’s no chance of doing anything out of the script, which means the program will be a disciplined one. On top of that, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will be there, which is why I am feeling happy, excited and panicked at the same time,” she added.
Chanchal, on the other hand, thinks the same way about the ceremony. “This is a prestigious program where the prime minister herself hands over the awards. So, I accepted the offer instantly,” said Chanchal.
Starting from 1975, the Government of Bangladesh offers National Film Awards to the individuals for notable contributions to the promotion of the art of cinema, specifically for their best performances, and also to the best films and documentaries. The ceremony is a grand event that took place annually through a host of colourful programs, dance and music.
