Journalists of Rangpur working in different local and national print and electronic media formed a human chain on Tuesday in front of Rangpur Press Club in the city demanding immediate arrest and punishment of the attackers who assaulted the Rangpur Correspondent of Channel 71 Shah Bayejid Ahmed, including camera persons of the channel 71 and channel RTV on Saturday when they went to Rangpur Medical College Hospital (RMCH) to collect information and footage for a special story.
In addition to journalists, city mayor, educationists, business men, socio cultural activists, politicians, news paper agents also took part in the human chain.
Later, a protest meeting was also held at the same venue. The speakers of the meeting demanded exemplary punishment for the culprits. They condemned the incident and vowed to continue their duties defying all difficulties in catering news through their media without any fear. They also threatened for tougher programme, if immediate steps are not taken to arrest of the accused intern doctors and employees of the hospital.
