Local people forming human chain and holding agitation rally on Friday noon in Mehendiganj upazila of Barisal demanding capital punishment of the killers of union Jubo Dal President Alamin Howlader.
The programme was held at Ratanpur Natun Khaserhut Bazar under Bidyanandapur union under Kzirhut police station in Mehendiganj upazila of Barisal district.
The programme was presided over by Luthfar Rahman Swapan MP and union president of Swechchhasebok League and it was addressed among others by Salam Haoladar, father, Ripa Begum, wife of the victim and Babul Shikadar, union AL Joint Secretary.
They said Al Amin, 35, was chopped to death under open day light by his cousins and their associates on September 5 over dispute about ownership of land properties.
However in a week police not only failed to arrest the killers, but the accused killers giving threats against the family members of the victim.
So participants of the agitation rally and human chain demanded immediate arrest of all killers and their capital punishment after speedy trial.
Shawkat Anowar, Kazirhut police station officer in charge, said a group armed with lethal and sharp weapon led by Manjur, cousin of the victim, attacked and chopped Al Amin severely over old rivalry about ownership of land on September 5 noon.
Injured Al Amin was rushed to Barisal Sher E Bangla Medical College by speed boat in critical condition.
