CUET ECCE Int'l Confce ends: Public varsities to be modernized with global standards: UGC

Chairman of the University Grants commission Prof. Abdul Mannan said the public universities of Bangladesh will be modernized with more global standards in future to face global competitions .
 He disclosed it at the concluding session of the International conference held in Cox’s Bazar on the subject ÔÔThe International Conference on Electrical, Computer and Communication Engineering (ECCE 2017) as chief guest. The conference begins from February 15 last .
Vice Chancellor of the Chittagong University of Engineering & technology Prof. Dr. Rafiqul Alam, Project Director of UGC Dr. Gouranga Chandra Mohanta, Professor of EEE Department of BUET Prof. Dr. Sheikh Anwarul Fattah graced the occasion as special guests. Chairman of the conference technical committee Prof. Dr. Shamsul Arefin presided the concluding session, CUET Asstt. Registrar Fazlur Rahman sources said.
Earlier report adds: Under the auspices of Electrical and Computer and Communication Engineering faculty of Chittagong University of Engineering &Technology , an international seminar titled ÔÔThe International Conference on Electrical, Computer and Communication Engineering (ECCE 2017)” begins from yesterday (Thursday) at Cox’sBazar Best Western Hotel auditorium .
 The 3-day long conference was formally inaugurated at 11 am on Feb 15 last by the vice chancellor of the university Prof.Dr. Rafiqul Alam as chief guest. The chief guest in his brief deliberations said information technology is the strong weapons of the developing countries to face the global challenges . He a number of the de veloping countries achieved advancement using the IT/ICT and software export and Bangladesh can achieve its future goal by availing the advantages of IT device in the global market.
 He also said IT sector will play important role in achieving the Digital Bangladesh and middle income country by 2021. Participants from USA, UK, Netherlands, Japan , South Korea, and India joined the conference, CUET sources said. Ten keynote speakers will read their research papers before the summit .
 Sources said 207 papers have been selected for presentation before the conference. The keynote speakers include Prof. Md. H.Rashid of Floria Polytechnic University, USA, Mr. Sankar Paul and Prof.NH Singh of Indian Statistical Institute , Prof.Tetsua Shimamura of Japan Saitama University, Prof. Anthon Nijholt of University of Tuent, Netherlands and Prof. Nazmul Siddiqui of UK Ulster University, sources added. Reputed Academic scientists, Researchers, Scholars, Decision Makers on Electrical, Electronics, computer science and telecommunications subjects are expected to participate the international conference.
 Dean of Electrical & Computer Science Prof. Dr.Abdul Matin Bhuyia presided the inaugural session of the conference. Prof. Md. H.Rashid of Floria Polytechnic University, USA, Executive Director of Bangladesh Computer council Swapan Kumar Sarkar were present in it as special guests.
 Member Secretary of the conference committee Prof. Dr. Asaduzzaman delivered address of welcome in it. Asstt. Professor of EEE department Prof.Jobaida Akhter conducted the opening session of the conference, CUET public relations department sources said.
