Nagarik Mancha, a social organisation of the port city called for public rally at Laldighi maidan in city on February 15 next demanding trial of ruling parlty lawmaker MA Latif for alleged distorting the portrait of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman .
This was decided at a meeting of the NM held on Tuesday, sources said. Nagarik Mancha formed consists of the supporters of AL city President ABM Mohiuddin Chowdhury , a reliable sources said.
In the meeting of NM on Tuesday, Mohiuddin chowdhury was present in it as chief guest. The chief guest of the meeting in his brief deliberations said those distorted the portrait of the father of the nation must face trial like war crimes.
The meeting demanded trial of MA Latif MP immediately . In the meet, Mohiuddin chowdhury hailed the JL, BCL leaders for filing four separate cases against the law maker under sedition, defamation and ICT act.
The plaintiffs of these cases are – NM Convenor AKM Belayet Hossain filed case under treason act, former Jubo league leader Saifuddin Ahmed Robi filed two separate cases under defamation act and ICT act and the former central BCL leader Abdur RAhim Zillu filed another defamation case against the law maker before the Chittagong Metropolitan court recently.
According to press release of NM, the meeting unanimously decided for holding rally at Laldighi maidan on February 15 next demanding trial of the lawmaker .
