In order to occupy a dwelling house forcibly at Madhaya Rajair Village in Sharankhola Upazila it was ransacked and set on fire by the opponents at Saturday noon.
The house belongs to one Mirjul Islam of the village. In this connection a case was registered with Sharankhola PS. It is stated in the case that at noon out of previous enmity Jahangir Hawladar, Nurul Islam Hawladar and Hemayet Hawladar accompanied by some 5/6 others of the same village armed with sharp knives and lethal weapons and in a preplanned way raided the house, ransacked it and set fire on it in order to occupy it forcibly. At that time when Riajul Islam and his wife Sharifa Begum tried to resist the opponents they (husband and wife) were severely beaten by the opponents.
Not only that but also the miscreants snatched away cash Tk.40 thousand and gold ornaments from the husband and the wife. At one stage when the neighbours rushed to the spot the miscreants fled away.
S K Abullah-al-Sayeed, Officer-In-Charge of Sharankhola PS told, being informed of setting fire on a dwelling house police visited the place of occurrence, investigated into the matter and lodged a case with the PS.
