Prograssive Students Alliance (PSA), an alliance of left leaning student organisations, on Wednesday brought out a protest procession on Dhaka University (DU) campus protesting the BCL attacks on their activists in different places across the country during the strike on January 29.
They brought out the procession from Madhur Canteen and paraded different streets of the campus and dispersed after a brief rally on the DUCSU premesis.
Addressing the rally, Chhatra Union
General Secretary Liton Nandi said, “Chhatra League activists are unleashing attacks repeatedly on our activists and general students to establish their authority in the different educational institutions”.
“Students will prevent their reckless activities. Our demonstration can’t be suppressed by attacking or filing case,” he added.
Among others, Chhatra Federation General Secretary Jahid Sujon, Somajtantrik Chhatra Front President Naima Khaled Monika and DU unit Chhatra Union President Tuhin Kanti Das were present at the rally.
On January 23, several hundred BCL activists swooped on a group of demonstrators comprising both general students and activists of left leaning student organisations to rescue DU Vice-Chancellor Professor Akhtaruzzaman as he was kept confined by the protestors in his office.
At least 30 demonstrators and several campus based journalists were injured in the attack.
