Protest against tyrant with life risk: Dr Kamal

Dr Kamal Hossain has said autocrat tries to deprive people of their rights. It is time to protest against that tyrant who ignores people rights. “If it is needed we will sacrifice our life”.
He came up with these remarks while discussing on the life and works of the veteran journalist late Ataus Samad’s 10 death anniversary at the Jatiya Press Club’s VIP lounge on Monday. Journalist Shamima Chowdhury presented the brief biography of Ataus Samad.
In the discussion Dhaka University Professor Dr Mohammad Golam Rahman, former Minister of state for Information Syed Didar Bakht, former General Secretary of Jatiya Press Club Syed Abdal Ahmed, President of Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists M Abdullah, President of Dhaka Union of Journalists Kader Gani Chowdhury, General Secretary Shahidul Islam, Bangladesh Correspondent of Reuters BM Rafiqur Rahman and former president of Photojournalists Association AKM Mohsin participated in the discussion.
Dr Kamal said when our democracy had faced extinct, Ataus Samad had written against it and faced the life threat. He never walks back and never vow to the power of bullet and tyrant.
He was the pioneer of realistic journalism. If we follow the ideology, honesty and bravery of Ataus Samad then we will able to save our democracy, he added.
He said, “There is no democracy in the country today. No right to speak. Risks must be taken to achieve democracy and the right to speak. People should be aware to speak and live the truth. The movement has to struggle”.
